How to play Monopoly?

Enjoy a classic! In this game you'll have to develop your monopoly by owning all the real state properties available. Players move their tiles according to the die, and land on properties they can buy to an imaginary bank. If the properties they land on already have an owner, players can be charged or offered the possibility to repurchase them.

How to play Monopoly?

The object of the game is to gain a monopoly on the streets and real estate spread across the board. Players move their player pieces clockwise around the board according to the number rolled on the dice. If they land on a property they can buy it from the dealer or auction it off to the other players. If a player lands on a property that is already owned, he will have to pay the owner the rental price of that property. Throughout the board you will find other specific squares with their own rules. Some can be bought so that the player who lands on them will have to pay, others will allow you to draw a card that can be beneficial or simply force you to pay. And if you're unlucky, you'll fall into the jail box which will force you to stay locked up until you roll a double or pay to get out. In the end, the player who has accumulated the most wealth or the only one who hasn't gone bankrupt wins.

How can I win at Monopoly?

There are a few tips you can follow to be the best at Monopoly. For starters, buy as much property as you can within your reach. You'll win the game faster by ruining your opponents than by saving money. Buy as many red and orange properties as you can. It has been proven that these are where you fall the most on dice rolls. Don't save money, especially at the beginning of the game. Having money in your hand is fine, but it will be sitting idle and not generating more income for you with the bad luck of the other players. Railroads and other transports don't give as much money as you might think, so don't fight for them with other players. Build houses and hotels as fast as you can. And if you end up in jail at the end of the game, don't try to get out right away. You'll save money by not being able to land on someone else's property, and the other players will be able to land on yours and make a profit.

Who created the original Monopoly?

The game has its origins in a game created in 1904 called Landlord's Game. A version of this game based on the city of Atlantic City was patented in 1935 and was bought by the Parker Brothers Company, who has been selling it to this day, now under the control of the Hasbro Company. It is estimated that more than 500 million copies have been sold since its release, making it the most played board game in the world.
